My mission is to bring greater understanding of the sensory processing that takes place in our bodies, so we can live healthy and happy lives despite the obstacles we encounter. Everybody is unique and learns from the very beginning how to navigate the world. Our senses receive information, process it, and react to it. When this system is not functioning properly, our bodies can struggle to interpret the information coming through our senses.
I want to raise awareness among parents and teachers about how sensory needs influence behavior and how we can support children in managing these needs.
My name is Magdalena, and I am a certified Polish Sensory Integration Therapist and Polish Special Education Teacher (HETAC 9). Over the past several years, I have gained extensive experience working with people, especially children, who experience differences in sensory integration and processing. I worked for many years as a Childcare Practitioner in preschools, where I observed, supported, and helped many children with additional needs.
At Sensory Therapy Ennis, I created a caring and stimulating environment that promotes learning through movement and play. My work is based on a holistic approach to both children and parents, helping them understand each other better, communicate their needs more effectively, and enjoy a more fulfilling life together.
As a child, I dreamed of becoming a teacher and helping children explore the world around them. As a teenager, I decided I wanted to work with individuals with additional needs and support them in understanding not only what is happening around them but also within them.
In 2006, I received a Master of Arts degree in Special Education and the Education of Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (HETAC 9 NQAI and DCYA recognition) from The Maria Grzegorzewska Academy of Special Education in Warsaw, Poland. In 2016, I became a Sensory Integration Therapist certified by the Polish Association of Sensory Integration Therapists. Since then, I have continued to learn, train, and seek new opportunities to improve my work with children and parents.
For many years, I have worked with children and adults with sensory processing difficulties, helping them and their families understand sensory needs and the behaviors that stem from them.
I help children and their parents discover, understand, and learn how to respond to their sensory needs, so they can safely and happily develop, being as well-prepared as possible for adult life.
I create a space for parents where they can feel understood, express their fears and frustrations, and work together to develop a plan of action to feel like confident, happy parents.
Working with me involves active collaboration between myself, the child, the parents, and often the school. Sensory integration sessions usually take place once a week (sometimes every two weeks, depending on your child’s needs). During the sessions, I help children understand their sensory needs and learn how to best manage and fulfill them. I assist children in discovering their strengths, teach them how to manage their weaknesses, help them understand their bodies better, and how to respond to sensory stimuli they encounter. At the same time, I teach parents how to read, understand, and respond to the signs related to their child’s sensory needs.
The sensory therapy I provide focuses on understanding your child’s needs, while also acknowledging your own needs, and finding a balance between them, so you can both enjoy each day together.
